18 Wheels sequel!. This is the most recent installment in the long running 18 Wheels of Steel series and if you're a fan of things like the Big Mutha Truckers games, then this should be of interest to you. However, for driving fans who like a bit more excitement, then this might prove to be a little too pedestrian for their tastes. Also, slightly disappointingly, this is little more than an expanded version of its predecessor, Extreme Trucker, with no major new elements other than some new areas to explore. If you haven't played any of the other games, the idea here is to complete a series of missions, which basically involve driving from one place to another while delivering certain specified goods. If you complete the mission well enough you earn points which open up the next one, thus allowing you to try out more interesting and exotic routes. Unlike the earlier games in the series, there are no management aspects, while the two new areas here are Bangladesh and Montana and which do at least bring some more variety to things. For trucking fans, this is probably a must play as it does do a good job of recreating the cross-country driving experience in the comfort of your own home. The missions aren't overly varied or all that exciting to be honest but that's kind of a given going in, really. The addition of the two new areas is probably not enough to warrant a purchase if you've played the immediate predecessor but if you haven't then this is just about worth a look. For racing fans after a bit more in the way of thrills and spills though, look elsewhere (like Road Rash).
