Traffic is fun. If the idea of managing traffic systems in various cities across Europe sounds of interest to you, or if you're a fan of city builders like SimCity, then this curious little game might be what you're looking for. You're tasked with creating and managing the traffic networks of four cities and while this might not sound that fun, it's actually strangely enjoyable. You have four campaigns, each with twelve scenarios, to choose from, and which see you travelling to Berlin, Helsinki, Amsterdam and Vienna. You can also play in free mode if you just want to mess around. You have no influence over the actual city layouts themselves, so if there is no tram system already established, you can't just go around pulling down houses to make one. Instead, you have to make do with what's already there, but in addition to the usual forms of transport, you have some more unusual ones, like helicopters and water buses, to play with. You have to create an efficient system but you also have to worry about being financially successful too, so you need to understand the population's needs and plan accordingly. The game plays out in real time, so you have to keep on top of things, while the interface is simple and intuitive to pick up, making navigating a breeze. Although something of a specialist title, Cities in Motion is curiously addictive, and once you get into it, you may find it hard to stop. There's nothing spectacular about the visuals but the absorbing, complex and tactical gameplay make this a winner.
