Ian Livingstone's Deathtrap Dungeon

Action 1998 Windows Eidos Medieval Third Person Adventure Fantasy

A dark adventure

Ian Livingstone's Deathtrap Dungeon is a 3D adventure game released in 1998, published by Eidos and based on the books written by Ian Livingstone. The action takes places in dangerous and bleak dungeons, with enemies like mosters, gigantic insects or powerful women. Both your character and these warrior enemies posess acrobatic skills, which wil make the battles challenging. The fights are intense and they involve throwing knives, superior and fantastic weapons, realistic graphics (blood drops and traces, parts of the body blown in the air). The ambient and the sounds are creepy and you have to pay attention at various traps, keys or puzzles. In order to survive, you have to look around for coins, health potions, and stuff like that. Also, a wide exploration will lead to secret areas, where you can find various fighting weapons and useful tools. This game is similar to Tomb Raider, and the main character, an adventurer, reminded me of Lara Croft. The thing that bothered me was the camera angle, which burdened my capacity of defending myself in the battles. I was often blocked in some corners, being attacked, with slight chances to escape. Maybe this is the only complain this game deserves to receive, as for the rest, just give it a try and prepare for an enjoyable adventure.
