Not that great a flight sim. You can't ask that much from a flight game released in the early 90s. It sure tried to create an ok premise but when it came to deliver it stumbled upon too many problems and issues. The game was thus your run of the mill advent into simulation, though at its core it was a fun lacking arcader, too lazy to be varied and too concerned with mathematical simulation and no feel. While it might be a better game than its brethren, Jetfighter I, as mentioned, this was still not the time of the (fighter) flight sims. What happens is, your view of the game world is rather abysmal, with little variety, but on top of it a lot of mathematically calculated variables are added. However you don't get to feel them at all, they're all running in the background, while the game world and the plane itself communicates so very little directly, through sound or visual cues. So, rather, if you're in for the experience itself, this is still not the game to go for. Try later and better games, the ones that can truly create something special feel based as well.
Second Jetfighter game. Jetfighter 2 is the best of the Jetfighter series. The graphics may not be up to today's standards but the playing 'feel' and enjoyment are the best I have played. It's quick to load, configure and learn. There are no frills just great jetfighter action and it works great with DOSBOX! All you need to do is learn to land on an aircraft carrier and practice the free flight and your set to tackle the adventure (or sinlular missions for practice).
