Action adventure teaching you what it takes to be a Jedi!

Star Wars: Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy was the first game in this Star Wars subseries, a nice set of action adventure games playable in first persona and allowing you access to fire weapons and later on to the much coveted laser swords. But, as you'd imagine, a Jedi also has to learn to harness the force, that galactic all encompassing energy that can be use to perform extraordinary tasks. But, all in due time. In this first game you will be chosen to undergo the preparations that will turn you from a more or less purposeless young individual to becoming a reliable Jedi. Sure thing, the start of the game will see you as a student in the Jedi school, but of course, the situation will precipitate and so you'll have to learn to take things under control pretty fast. One thing that I loved about the game was the diversity environments you will get to visit. There will be lots of habitats to visit, snow infused ones, deserts and lots of interior spaces. The game is level based and thus you can choose to play as you see fit, in one level sessions or much more. This episodic nature of the game makes it much easier to sink into the game, regardless of much time you can sink into it, which is really nice, overall. Also, try out the later contenders, Star Wars: Jedi Knight 2 - Jedi Outcast with improved graphics or the even more recent Star Wars: Jedi Knight - Dark Forces II.
